"OUT WEST" by Don Stewart:
"In the last issue I made mention of the newly formed Bunbury and Districts UHF Repeater Group and I am happy to say that it has since gone ahead in leaps and bounds.
When the group announced that it intended purchasing the 2/32 repeater outright and running it as a public facility, the membership fees and donations came flooding in --- The purchase price of was reached in only three weeks and membership is now 85.
The repeater has been purchased and the group is now working toward becoming incorporated so it can apply for the transfer of the licence. In the interim, the licence is retained by the original owner (who is also a member of the group.)
The idea was that donations would purchase the repeater and the annual membership fees would maintain it. Unfortunately, this was not achieved and most of the membership money was added to the donations to make the purchase, so a few more members, or donations, are needed to keep things moving until July, but after that it should be plain sailing.
If you are a regular user of 2/32 and would like to help, write to PO Box 1186, Bunbury.
There has been a lot said, and a bit written, about the being too much to pay for a repeater. To those who keep stirring that pot I can only say "Mind your own business --- there is more to the than you know about and the group are quite happy with their purchase thank you"."
